Second Officer (Flying Officer) Jadwiga Piłsudska, a Ferry Pilot of the Air Transport Auxiliary, RAF White Waltham, 19th March 1943.

She was one of two daughters of the pre-war leader of Poland, Marshal Józef Piłsudski, who escaped with her family to Britain via Sweden when the war broke out. Before the war she obtained a pilot’s license as a Glider pilot, and studied Aircraft Engineering at Warsaw Polytechnic, later continuing her studies as an Architect at Cambridge University. After the war, Piłsudska worked as an architect for London City Council.
